Craft worth keeping

Artisan hand-lasting a leather loafer in the workshop
Inside one of the family workshops we work with.

Thalassa NYC brings brand-new, European-sourced furs and handmade leather goods to New York.

Behind every piece is a family-owned workshop. Many of these workshops have been hurt by fast fashion. Some have been forced to close their doors, and others have turned their workshops into Airbnbs simply to survive. When a workshop closes, the skill passed down through its family often goes with it.

Thalassa exists to give that work a home. We select pieces for their craftsmanship and character, and we bring them to clients who value how something is made as much as how it looks.

Why it matters

Fast fashion is built for speed and volume. Handmade work is built to last. Choosing a piece made by hand supports the people who made it and keeps their craft in practice for the next generation.

Thalassa was founded by Sheena Malik and is based in New York.
